The looping, ruffled form of these earrings is inspired by the forms of deep-sea Glass Sponges.
The form is created by a computational simulation of minimal surface networks that tends towards even volumes and densities. The form is 3D printed in wax, and then cast in brass by the lost-wax process. A protective finish is applied to help prevent tarnishing, but over time this piece may develop a natural patina.
