Listeria - Giant Microbe

Listeria Monocytogenes. This bacterium is named after English surgeon Joseph Lister who, in 1867, came up with the radical idea that surgeons should wash their hands before slicing open patients. Curiously post-surgical infection rates plummeted after his eccentric proposal was put into practice. Our cuddly Giant Microbes are supplied with an information sheet and a magnified image of the actual bug described (as pictured).
