Taima Mandala 1000-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

This is the 1750 version of an older, much copied mandala from Japanese Pure Land Buddhism. The imagery mostly comes from the Sutra of the Contemplation of Amitayus: The Buddha Amida sits at the centre of the Taima Mandala, in a palace with a golden pond. Dancers and musicians surround him. Amida is the central figure in Pure Land Buddhism. In the foreground, those being born into the Pure Land emerge from lotus buds growing in the water.
